Annual Pumpkin Patch Opens Saturday at Southside United Methodist Church

Hundreds of pumpkins will be hitting the town on Saturday, October 2nd as the youth of Southside United Methodist Church (SUMC) set up for the start of PUMPKINS ON THE POINT!   We invite the community to enjoy the fun as “the point,” between Hendricks Avenue and San Jose Blvd, grows one pumpkin at a time into a very sincere pumpkin patch.

Pumpkins on the Point opens Saturday, October 2nd and continues until October 31st.  PUMPKINS ON THE POINT will be opened weekdays from 12:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m., Saturdays from 10:00 am to 8:00 p.m. and closed on Sunday.

Youth and adult volunteers put in thousands of hours planning and working PUMPKINS ON THE POINT.  “It’s a sign that fall it here for hundreds of families in the Southside area,” says Amy Franks, Youth Director for SUMC.  “Customer’s come back every year to look for the perfect pumpkin.  It’s such a great way to serve the immediate community, as well as, raise money to allow our youth to serve the global community.”

PUMPKINS ON THE POINT is the annual fundraising event for the SUMC’s Youth Ministry know as The Point.  All proceeds support Point Youth ministries and activities.  This past summer youth mission trips included a week in Savannah, Georgia and Chisec, Guatemala.

In addition to individual pumpkin sales, PUMPKINS ON THE POINT, plays host to over 1,000 Pre-school and Elementary students visit the Pumpkin Patch weekdays mornings during the month of October.  The children enjoy stories, fall activities and get to take home their very own pumpkin.
