Jennifer and Dave Edwards are proud parents of 2 healthy twin boys, Jack and Luke.  At 16 weeks into their pregnancy, doctors told the parents-to-be that one of their babies had no amniotic fluid and to prepare for the worst. At just 19 weeks, Jennifer started having contractions and was immediately admitted into the hospital.  She made it to 32 weeks and delivered the two boys at Wolfson Children’s Hospital on September 7, 2007. Jack and Luke each weighed a little over 2 lbs. and were able to go home after 8 weeks in the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU).The boys were transported and treated with equipment that was purchased by Children’s Miracle Network Hospitals, with funds raised by their corporate sponsors such as Publix.

Today, Jack and Luke are healthy 3 year olds and showed how much they care by visiting the Publix Supermarket in Jacksonville Beach.  The boys, their mother, Jennifer, and younger sister, Sophie handed out pins and thanked the associates for all their help in raising money for Children’s Miracle Network Hospitals here in Jacksonville. The store’s Assistant Manager, John Derobertis, took the group around to every department in the store including a tour of the produce department as part of the Produce for Kids campaign that Publix is also currently participating in.

Publix Super Markets, based in Lakeland, Fla., supports Children’s Miracle Network Hospitals through in-store fundraising and the Produce for Kids program.  The 2011 Publix campaign celebrates the 20th year of partnership with Children’s Miracle Network Hospitals.

The Jacksonville community can make miracles happen for children by visiting their local Publix and purchasing a Miracle Balloon through this Friday, June 17!  Each $1, $3 and $5 Miracle Balloon features coupons that can be redeemed at Publix.
