Woody’s Bar-BQ Selling Shamrocks to benefit MDA | Community Spirit
Beginning February 1st, 2012, Woody’s Bar-BQ will sell Shamrocks to benefit the Muscular Dystrophy Association. Last year they raised $1,986 among their three participating locations.
Shamrocks is a program conducted by tens of thousands of retail and commercial businesses and organizations nationwide in which Shamrocks mobiles are sold to customers and patrons for $1 and $5 contributions. Shamrocks Against Dystrophy is a St. Patrick's holiday themed promotion that inspires added pride in associates and encourages friendly interaction with customers.
Funds raised by Woody’s Bar-BQ give MDA the means to continue providing direct services to children and adults with neuromuscular diseases in Florida.
Free medical services are available in Jacksonville at MDA’s Clinics at Nemours
Children’s Clinic, Mayo Clinic and in Gainesville at the University of Florida’s Clinic at Shands Hospital for individuals diagnosed with any of the 43 neuromuscular diseases covered by MDA. In addition, MDA is able to provide a summer camp tailored to the needs of children, from age 6 to 17, with muscular dystrophy.
