Youth Win Immunization PSA Contest

Each year in the United States, we lose 1,070 people to meningitis and 4,590 people to cervical cancer caused by the human papillomavirus (HPV). In an effort to spread the word about these vaccine-preventable diseases and raise awareness among teens, Brunet-García Advertising sponsored the Florida Bureau of Immunization’s You Call the Shots public service announcement (PSA) contest; inviting youth ages 11 to 18 to produce and enter a 30-second  PSA highlighting the importance of HPV and meningitis vaccinations.

Cancer Survivors Gather for Southside Relay for Life

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. -- People from all walks of life gathered at the Mandarin High School football field for Relay for life Saturday.

The event brings together people battling cancer to tell their story and walk for a cure.

Cancer doesn't sleep and neither will the folks at the Southside Relay for Life.

"Cancer is always affecting somebody no matter what hour or time of the day it is," said Cassandra Honour, who suffers from a rare cancer.

"It's called multicentric interosseous fibromatosis," Honour said. "It affects the bones and the organs. And it's the fourth case in the world."

The 15-year-old is the only person in her family to ever be diagnosed with cancer. They had a lot of questions and found support from the American Cancer Society.

"Relay for Life just helps pay for the support the research and to find a cure," Honour said.
