Police Find Missing First-Grader at Friend's Home
News

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. -- Police said a first-grade student who disappeared from Loretto Road Elementary School this afternoon was found with a friend, according to Duval County Public Schools spokesperson Jill Johnson.

Jacksonville Sheriff's Office deputies at the scene said that the girl went home with a friend on the bus and left her bike behind.

Anjelica S. King, who is 7, was supposed to meet her sister near the bike area after school, according to Johnson and Officer Melissa Bujeda with JSO. The child never showed up.

Bujeda said the girl was found around 6 p.m.

The school followed all of the proper procedures, Johnson said, and about 20 teachers and administrators stayed at the school to call  anyone who could have known where she was.

They used the Parent Link system as well, Johnson said.
