JACKSONVILLE, Fla.-- Detectives with the Jacksonville Sheriff's Office said a driver hit a pedestrian near Old St. Augustine Road and Kori Road in Mandarin.
A JSO detective at the scene said the pedestrian was taken to the hospital with life-threatening injuries.
Police have not released the pedestrian's identity.
Police say charges are not pending against the driver. Detectives say they're looking into whether the pedestrian had alcohol in his system.
JSO said beer cans were scattered in the street. The pedestrian had just purchased them at a convenience store.
