JACKSONVILLE, Fla. - Several schools in Northeast Florida have made Newsweek's brand new list of "America's Best High Schools."
The top-ranked school in our area, according to the Newsweek poll, is Stanton College Preparatory. The Newsweek rankings gave Stanton a score of 2.33, which ranked them eighth for the entire country.
The rankings are based on surveys sent to 3,200 high schools across the U.S. The surveys asked for school administrators to provide standard data including:
- Four year graduation rates
- Percentage of graduates accepted to college (in 2011)
- Number of AP/IB/AICE tests per student
- Average ACT and/or SAT score
- Average AP/IB/AICE score
- Number of AP/IB/AICE course offered per student
According to Newsweek, schools in St. Johns and Clay Counties also made the list.
