JSO to hold events for National Prescription Drug Take Back Day | News

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. -- The Jacksonville Sheriff's Office and the Drug Enforcement Agency are partnering to host local events for National Prescription Drug Take Back Day on Saturday, Sept. 29.
From 10 a.m. to 2 p.m., officers will be accepting unused medications to be disposed of properly at the following locations:
- Publix, 9100 Merrill Road
- Publix, 10500 San Jose Boulevard
The aim of the event is "to encourage the public to remove access to drugs that may potentially abused by friends, family and others," according to a release from JSO.
Over-the-counter medicine will also be accepted, but batteries, aerosols and bio hazards will not be accepted.
For those who cannot make it to the drop-off event, prescription drugs can by anonymously dropped off year round at the public entrance of the Police Memorial Building.
