Downtown Jacksonville’s series is returning to historic Treaty Oak Park Fridays in the spring. Hosted by Downtown Vision, Inc. and JaxParks, the series features four family-friendly movies shown under the stars, each beginning at dusk (around 8 p.m.) on the land that once served as the setting for numerous silent films. Attendees are encouraged to bring blankets, lawn chairs and picnic dinners ordered “to-go” from one of the many Downtown restaurants. April 8 – Cars, April 15 – The Neverending Story, April 29 – Willy Wonka & the Chocolate Factory.

Jacksonville Public Library Offers Student Financial Aid Workshops

The Jacksonville Public Library, in partnership with the Florida Department of Education Office of Student Financial Assistance (OSFA), will present, “Figuring Out FAFSA,” a free session offering a thorough explanation of the college financial aid application process, including tips for filling out forms.

Jacksonville Area Florida Department of Transportation Lane Closings Jan 15 - 21

January 15 through January 21

I-10/I-95 interchange reconstruction project

Lanes and ramps will be closed nightly at various locations within the project limits from 10 p.m. to 5 a.m. from Monday, January 17 through Friday, January 21. Detour signs will be posted. All work should be finished in early 2011.

The Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission (FWC) wants to know what Floridians think about providing more daylight-hunting hours to alligator hunters. The public can comment via an online survey.
