Jacksonville Country Day School Holiday Sports Camp

Jacksonville Country Day School is hosting a holiday sports camp for boys and girls in kindergarten through sixth grade during the winter break from school. The camp is open to children throughout the Jacksonville community.

"The sports camp offers kids an opportunity to stay active during the school holidays," said Chris Kemph, director of auxiliary services for JCDS. "It is going to be more exciting than sitting around playing video games."

The camp will include age-appropriate activities such as flag football, kickball, basketball, as well as indoor games.

"We will provide a supervised, caring environment during the holiday break for children with working parents," said Kemph. "The kids will not be sitting at home, alone and bored."

The camp will be offered in two sessions. Session 1 runs December 20-23 with a fee of $120. Session 2 runs December 27-31 with a fee of $140.

The hours for both sessions are 8:00 a.m. until 3:00 p.m.  Extended care will be available from 3:00 until 6:00 p.m. for an additional $40 per week.

The camp will be located on the beautiful JCDS campus located at 10063 Baymeadows Road in Jacksonville's Southside. Jim Martin, head basketball coach for Providence School, is the camp's director.

Parents may visit the JCDS website at www.jcds.com to download a camp application.

Jacksonville Country Day School's mission is to "prepare students for a healthy and productive lifetime of intellectual exploration, character development, and social responsibility."

Jacksonville Country Day School, established in 1960, is celebrating its 50th Anniversary this year.
